Marlin McKay live

Currently the Assistant Professor of High Brass and Director of Jazz and Commercial Music at the historic Kentucky State University, Marlin McKay has a sound and style all his own, full of graceful melodies and soulful sounds that reflects his two greatest influences – Nicholas Payton and Tom Harrell. His love of Hard Bop makes him a natural choice to present jazz to listeners and aficionados both young and seasoned.

Marlin has relished in national and international acclaim having recently placed, First Runner Up, in the National Trumpet Competition Jazz Division, and has also been a participant in the prestigious jazz residencies of the Betty Carter Jazz Ahead program, as well as, the Stean’s Institute for Young Artists, located in Washington D.C. and Ravinia Illinois respectively.

He has recorded one album under his own name, Deep in the Cosmos and his sophomore release, The Look.

Small Time Napoleon

Small Time Napoleon is the combination of new ideas and old sounds.  Their interest in the jazz standards of the swing-era shine through in their voices, writing, and playing, while their ear for new sounds and ideas constantly drives them forward.  The product of this pairing is what Kyle Ware of Insider Louisville has called a "mad science blend of Western swing, hot jazz and folk,"which is "already starting to gel into something wholly singular."
