Brooks Giles Blues, Grooves and Bebop

International Saxophonist/Vocalist Brooks Giles III has taken his high energy musical mixture of Jazz and Blues to Beijing, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Myanmar and Santiago, Chile where he recorded his latest CD, “Romance de Los Andes” with “The Pancho Aranda Trio”.

His first CD, “Somewhere On Earth, The Bangkok Sessions”, was released in 2002.That same year Brooks and his ensemble were featured on the first ever “Hennessy X.O. Smooth & Mellow Jazz Tour”. After rave reviews, the ensemble was invited to perform again in 2003.

Brooks has performed with Donald Byrd, The Drifters, Martha Reeves and The Vandellas, Charli Persip, Eldee Young, Ron Affif and Peter Duchin.

After obtaining his M.F.A. from Queens College’s Aaron Copland School of Music in Queens, New York, Brooks toured Europe with the Broadway musical “Bubbling Brown Sugar”.

In 1999 Brooks made his acting debut in the Woody Allen film “Sweet & Lowdown”.

In 2005 he performed on the soundtrack and appeared in the DVD of the original stage play “It’s A Hard Bop Life” by Gregory Charles Royal.

Brooks continues to perform in large and small ensembles throughout The United States of America and The World.

Sunday Sessions with Ric Sexton

Ric Sexton, a man of many hats,  is an actor, host, event DJ , dancer, and musician.

 He was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio but is currently living in Dayton, OH. He received his bachelor's degree in Music Media from Norfolk State University in Virginia.  Ric has performed from state to state playing the alto saxophone as well as acting in plays, hosting special events and performing pantomime.

 Sexton has had notable performances in cities such as Charlotte, Atlanta and Louisville. Also in the country’s oldest jazz club, Bakers in Detroit MI.

Marlin McKay Quartet

Currently the Assistant Professor of High Brass and Director of Jazz and Commercial Music at the historic Kentucky State University, Marlin McKay has a sound and style all his own, full of graceful melodies and soulful sounds that reflects his two greatest influences – Nicholas Payton and Tom Harrell. His love of Hard Bop makes him a natural choice to present jazz to listeners and aficionados both young and seasoned.

Marlin has relished in national and international acclaim having recently placed, First Runner Up, in the National Trumpet Competition Jazz Division, and has also been a participant in the prestigious jazz residencies of the Betty Carter Jazz Ahead program, as well as, the Stean’s Institute for Young Artists, located in Washington D.C. and Ravinia Illinois respectively.

He has recorded one album under his own name, Deep in the Cosmos and his sophomore release, The Look.
